As an experienced adventure racer, trail runner, mountain biker and triathlete I have often ventured into that zone when the mind says 'No!' often the body still has plenty of 'Go!'.
I also know what it's like when you loose motivation or that hollow feeling when injury strikes. I have invested in training programs and equipment assuming that results and personal bests (PBs) will magically happen... you know what I mean... that new pair of runners... hours of physio... maybe some carbon wheels for the bike... a deep tissue massage... or some fancy home trainer for COVID lockdown.... you can justify it all I'm sure!
